To maintain a pure body, it is important that our work, some work at least in all what we do in the whole day, is creative. In the past in India all work was still creative. Work was done with a total sense of creativity. If someone was making shoes then he was just enjoying making shoes, his profession was that. Someone making a sculpture was enjoying making it, someone making clothes, making them by hand, and they were enjoying making them. We had such carpenters, such professionals who used to produce a small amount of wool which if you opened it, it would cover an entire elephant. Imagine, I’m talking about wool. In India there was creative work, people used to enjoy that and their meditation was this. Not just to earn a living, this was for enjoying the work and when we enjoy it so much then living life fully happens automatically. So in West Bengal, what we call it now, there used to be carpenters who would do what no machine can do even today. When the British came, the first thing they did was, they chopped off the hands of these kinds of people and destroyed these creative works so their own factories could come in and then they could sell.
